#2.An Introduction to Programming the Internet of Things (IOT) Specialization

Level – Beginner

This Specialization covers embedded systems, the Raspberry Pi Platform, and the Arduino environment for building devices that can control the physical world. The 5 courses in this University of Michigan specialization introduce learners to data science through the python programming language. This skills-based specialization is intended for learners who have a basic python or programming background, and want to apply statistical, machine learning, information visualization, text analysis, and social network analysis techniques through popular python toolkits such as pandas, matplotlib, scikit-learn, nltk, and networkx to gain insight into their data.

Through 4 courses and a combination of presentations, demos, and hands-on labs, participants learn how to use GCP services and pre-trained machine learning APIs to build secure, scalable, and intelligent cloud-native applications.

This class is intended for application developers who want to build cloud-native applications or redesign existing applications that will run on Google Cloud Platform.

Specialization objectives

This course teaches participants the following skills:

  • Use best practices for application development.
  • Choose the appropriate data storage option for application data.
  • Implement federated identity management.
  • Develop loosely coupled application components or microservices.
