Secure your Aadhaar Biometrics data
If you’re concerned about the privacy and confidentiality of your Aadhaar Biometrics data. Now there is an option to lock/unlock it. Locked Biometrics ensures the Aadhaar holder will not be able to use their Biometrics (fingerprints/iris) for authentications thus preventing potential misuse. Note: Registered Mobile Number is essential to avail of this service. In case your mobile number is not registered with Aadhaar visit the nearest Enrolment Centre.
The following are the steps to lock your data.
Step #1 – Navigate to Biometric lock page https://resident.uidai.gov.in/aadhaar-lockunlock
Step #2 – Enter Aadhar number,Security code & click ‘Send OTP’
Step #3 – Once login, there is an option to Lock/Unlock. Locked Biometrics ensures your Aadhaar would not be able to use Biometrics (fingerprints/iris) for authentications thus preventing potential misuse.
Once Biometric Locking system is enabled biometric remains locked till you chose to unlock/disable the lock system.
