Raspberry Pi Zero W – Small and affordable computer

Launched at the end of February 2017, Raspberry Pi Zero W extends the Pi Zero series.Raspberry Pi is a small single-board computers by the Raspberry Pi Foundation to promote the teaching of basic computer science in schools and in developing countries.The original model became far more popular than anticipated, selling outside of its target market for uses such as robotics. Peripherals (including keyboards, mice and cases) are not included with the Raspberry Pi.

I have got earlier model of Raspberry 2 B+,purchased at around 2014 from Amazon.These boards are approximately are credit-card sized. Improved A+ and B+ models were released a year later (around 2015+).Raspberry Pi Zero with smaller size and reduced input/output (I/O) and general-purpose input/output (GPIO) capabilities was released in November 2015.

Pi Zero W has all the functionality of the original Pi Zero, but comes with added connectivity, consisting of:

  • 802.11 b/g/n wireless LAN
  • Bluetooth 4.1
  • Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE)

Like the Pi Zero, it also has:

  • 1GHz, single-core CPU
  • 512MB RAM
  • Mini HDMI and USB On-The-Go ports
  • Micro USB power
  • HAT-compatible 40-pin header
  • Composite video and reset headers
  • CSI camera connector
